Site description (2003 baseline):

Site location and context
Gunung Repok (1912 m) separated from Ruteng by Wae Mese River Valley. Slopes of Gunung Repok are very steep and landslide is frequently occured. Forested area up to 1200 m and 1500 m has been cutted and only small group of forested area in steep river valleys.



Key biodiversity
This area is the location where Flores Scopsowl Ottus alfredi specimen collected (Hartert 1897a), and follow up survey in this area couldn't found that species (Butcart et.al.1996, Trainor & Lesmana 2000). Follow-up survey is needed to establish the status of Flores Scopsowl, especially in coastal areas.



Habitat and land use
Upper mountain forest on volcanic (Not monsoon forest) with the trees up to 35 m (Butchart et.al.1996, Trainor & Lesmana 2000).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Illegal timber cutting, clearence of land for agriculture, firewood collection and illegal hunting (Trainor & Lesmana 2000).

Protected Forest (Trainor & Lesmana 2000).
