Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A freshwater lake with adjacent agricultural land and remnants of semi-natural woodland and grassland.



Key biodiversity
The lake is polluted and few birds currently breed. Detailed data are only available from 1983 when the site was considered to be of international importance for staging Anser fabalis (1,200 birds).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The causes of pollution are agricultural intensification and industrialization and urbanization.



Protected areas
National Unknown International High1,340 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Tjele Langsø, 1,340 ha).
