Site description (2019 baseline)
The area represents the Timok river valley and surrounding hillsides and small valleys, whose watercourses flow into the pristine course of the Timok river, extending from the city of Zaječar to the outskirts if the city of Negotin in Eastern Serbia. The landscape is characterized by extensive agriculture, with small parcels of diverse crops dominating the area. The area is very heterogeneous and represents a mosaic of arable land, meadows, orchards and deciduous forest groves, especially around watercourses.
