Thrypti and Orno mountains, Crete


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
Two mountains dominated by scrub with some Pinus woodland, recently reduced in extent by fire. Human activities include livestock-farming and hunting.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for resident raptors and species associated with upland scrub.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from agricultural expansion. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

National Partial International NonePart of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Monastiraki/Pachias Ammou-Kato Choriou, 700 ha).
