Site location and context
The largest plain in Greece. The site is predominantly arable land and villages. Hills covered with phrygana are included.
The site is important for species found in arable land and holds the largest number of breeding
Falco naumanni in Greece.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from agricultural intensification. The demolition of old buildings is a particular threat to
Falco naumanni (`Other' threats, above).
