Site location and context
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 80 km around Tetiaroa, Moorea et Tahiti to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of Red-footed Booby based upon a 1973 population estimate of 5000 breeding pairs from Thibault, JC. (1976) L'Avifaune de Tetiaroa (archipel de la Societe. Polynesie Francaise. L'Oiseau et la Revue Francaise d'Ornithologie, 46(1): 29-45; Brown Noddy based upon a 2009 population estimate of 10552 breeding pairs from Russel, J. and Faulquier, L. (2009) Tetiaroa rat and seabird survey. University of California - Berkeley and Societe d'Ornithologie de Polynesie MANU. 11pgs; and high use and transit areas of IBA threshold numbers of Tahiti Petrel based upon a 2008 population estimate of 107 - 139 individuals from Zarzoso-Lacoste, D.
