Site location and context
Large and natural raised bog complex comprising Teicu bog, the largest peatland in Latvia, as well as the Lielais Pelecares and Eiduku bogs. The area is rich in open bog habitats with numerous small lakes and pools. It is lined with mostly wet mixed and coniferous forests, and surrounded mostly by farmland. Listed as an IBA since 1989 [5, 6, 7, 1]. High protection level: there is a 97.1% overlap with Teici nature reserve and Lielais Pelecares bog restricted nature reserves, both candidate SPAs, as well as by Eiduku bog restricted nature area.
