Site description (2019 baseline)
The IBA is situated in Eastern Serbia, within the municipalities of Svrljig and Knjaževac. The most dominant landscape features of the area are the Svrljiški Timok river, which runs through an impressive 15 km long limestone gorge with very scarce vegetation, and mountain Tresibaba. Tresiababa is a flat, low altitude mountain (highest peak 787 m) very rich with karst relief forms, such as karst pits, sinkholes, caves and caverns. The rest of the IBA is characterized mainly by arable land, with extensive agriculture.
