Site description (2001 baseline):
Site location and context
Small area of marshy forest in the north-west of Murmansk region.
1996 year was not tipically cold for this area. All phenological dates were moved for 2-3 weeks. as a result the number of all bird species were certainly lower than ussually. The density of birds differs (higher) from surrounding territories
The area is a complex of fens, lakes and adjacent raised and transition mires, which distincly differs from the surrounding areas of taiga (as observed in 1996), not only as a landscape, but also as an area with significantly higher number of Tringa glareola, Tringa erythropus and Numenius phaeropus.The IBA is also very little impacted upon by local people: the area is only used by local hunters and berry-collectors in the autumn (='Other' land-use; no more than 30-40 berry collectors at any one time).'Other' threat = a variety of minor problems.
