Site location and context
A coastal river delta with saltmarsh, brackish coastal lagoons, wet grassland and reedbeds (
Phragmites).
This is an important site for breeding, passage and wintering waterbirds.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from the expansion of agriculture and increased industrial and tourism developments. The area is a candidate SAC.

International None220 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Reserve (Tsourakia-Gefyra Amfipolis/Amfipolis-Neon, 220 ha).
