Site description (2000 baseline)
Store Vildmose was formerly a large raised bog, but due to drainage and peat extraction is now mostly arable land, although smaller areas of bog remain. The IBA includes the adjacent meadows along the Ryå stream.

Key biodiversity
This is an important staging area for Cygnus columbianus. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (max. 4, breeding).
