Key biodiversity

2 species trigger marine IBA criteria at this site: Chinstrap Penguin (LC), 1.58% of global population; Adélie Penguin (LC), 1.89% global pop (best available data as of 2018).
The islands also hold important populations of Brown Skua (LC), Gentoo Penguin (LC), Adelie Penguin (LC), Macaroni Penguin (VU), Southern Giant Petrel (LC), Southern Fulmar (LC), Cape Petrel (LC), and Black-bellied Storm-petrel (LC), which are likely to be using this site.
