South-eastern coast of Lake Ladoga


Site description (2001 baseline):

Site location and context
Area locate on the south-eastern coast of Ladoga lake, south of the mouth of the Olonka river, and including two groups of islands with adjacent shorelines.

Habitat and land use
A lot of coastal islands with patches of fringe vegetation and bare shores, which have very flat unforested shores. The shape of the coastline and the size of the reedbeds and flats change according to the level of Ladoga lake.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
In total two nature reservers existing here covers 100 ha of IBAs.Increasing of size of "Andrusovski" reserve are needed for better protection of IBAs.
