Songhua Hu, Baishan Hu and Hongshi Hu

Site location and context
The main habitats in the nature reserve are coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest, broadleaf deciduous forest and secondary forest. The IBA includes the wetland and open water habitats in the reserve.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: There are records of Panthera tigris altaia, Panthera pardus, Felis lynx, Lutra lutra, Martes zibellina, Ursus arctos, Selenarctos thibetanus and Cervus nippon, but their numbers have declined in recent years.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
The IBA is part of Sanhu Nature Reserve (Jilin). This was established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1990, which was formed from the original Songhua Hu Nature Reserve (established in 1982) and two new reservoirs built on the upper course of the river.
