Site summary
This upland site comprising of upland heath, bog and commercial forestry, stretching from Scariff in Clare almost to Lough Rea in Galway, supports the second largest concentration of Circus cyaneus in Ireland. It provides excellent nesting and foraging habitat for breeding Circus cyaneus and is also likely to be of national importance for breeding Falco columbianus.
