Site description (2019 baseline)
Slano Kopovo represents one of the best preserved saline ponds in the country. It is an invaluable hotspot for biodiversity and a unique example of saline habitats, which are on the verge of extinction in the country. The IBA is situated in the vicinity of town Novi Bečej and Tisa river, and it comprises of landscape entities such as the reserve Slano Kopovo, fishpond Ostrovo (350 ha), which are remnants of old meanders of the Tisa river, DTD irrigation canal and others.
