Site description (2024 baseline):
Site location and context
Located in south-western Finland, includes agricultural areas and shores and bays of the Baltic Sea.
The area attracts large numbers of geese, ducks and waders especially in late summer. The area is particularly important for Greylag Goose, Common Pochard, and Caspian Tern.
The area consists of shallow bays of the Baltic Sea, and meadows that are kept open by regular grazing. Some parts of the wetlands are protected.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The quality of the site depends on regular grazing. Changes in agricultural practices, or incentive policies, may lead to deterioration. The eutrophication of the Baltic Sea is likely to continue and to affect the wetland habitat in the future.
