Site description (2001 baseline)
Simunul and Manuk Manka Islands lie to the south of Tawi-tawi (PH115), in the south of the Sulu archipelago. There is an area of forest on Simunul five kilometres south-west of Tubig Indangan village, but the total extent of the remaining forest cover there and on Manuk Manka is not known.

Key biodiversity
Several of the threatened and restricted-range lowland forest species of the Sulu archipelago Endemic Bird Area were recorded on Simunul and Manuk Manka in the past, or reported by local people, but there is little recent information on their status on these islands.
