Siling Co Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in Changtang, north-western Tibet. The average elevation of the IBA is 4,800 m, and it includes an extensive inland river system. The islets in the IBA’s lakes are important breeding grounds for birds.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Ursus arctos, Panthra uncia, Equus kiang and Pantholops hodgsoni.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
The provincial-level Xainza Nature Reserve was established in 1993. It was upgraded to become the present national-level nature reserve in 2003.
