Sariñena lake and La Estación pond


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A former salty, endorreic lake that now is a freshwater wetland with reedbeds (Phragmites).



Key biodiversity
This is also a nationally important wintering site for waterbirds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is pesticide pollution from agricultural areas around the wetland.



Protected areas
National High International None604 ha of IBA covered by Wild Fauna Reserve (Laguna de Sariñena, 604 ha).
