Sanpihu Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the north-eastern part of Tian’e County and the north-western part of Nandan County, at the southern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The IBA is part of the Fenghuang mountains, which have a north-south orientation and 21 peaks above 800 m. The entire IBA has a landscape of low to intermediate height mountains.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Important plants include Alsophila spinulosa and Tsuga tckekiangensis. Animals include Python molurus, Macaca mulatta, Macaca thibetana, Manis pentadactyla, Viverra zibetha, Selenarctos thibetanus, Felis temmincki and Moschus berezovskii.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a county-level nature reserve in 1982.
