Site description (2000 baseline)
A high-altitude mountain area in the Pyrenees with cliffs, numerous small mountain lakes, extensive alpine grasslands and Pinus and Abies forest. The area is used for forestry, stock-grazing in summer and tourism and recreation.

Key biodiversity
Breeding birds include four of the 10 species in Europe that are restricted to the Eurasian high-montane biome (when breeding).
