Site location and context
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 70 km around Récifs d'Entrecasteaux to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of waterbirds based upon a 2005 population estimate of 60000 individuals from Baudat-Franceschi, J. (2012) Update on seabirds' IBAs in New Caledonia. SCO, 05/11/2012; and Brown Booby based upon a 1995 population estimate of 1626 mature individuals and Red-footed Booby based upon a 1995 population estimate of 5765 mature individuals from Robinet, O., Sigouant, S. and Bretagnolle, V. (1997) Marine birds of d'Entrecasteaux Reefs (New Caledonia, Southwestern Pacific): abundance, trends and threats. Colonial Waterbirds, 20(2): 282-290.
