Site description (2001 baseline):

Site location and context
Northern part of the Russki Zavorot Peninsula.

Habitat and land use
Extensive marine shallows and low-lying tundra with numerous small lakes connected by channels.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
There is a project to establish Nenetsky Zapovednik in this area. A scientific programme with Groningen University (Netherlands) is ongoing.
