Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A fertile coastal wetland close to the town of Kokkola. Due to continuous geological uplifting of the land, the site holds several habitats at various successional stages, including wet meadows with low vegetation, scrub, young deciduous forests and nutrient-poor
Pinus sylvestris forests. The area has been managed actively by cutting bushes and cattle-grazing on the tall grass.
An important congregatory area for migrating waterbirds.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

International High236 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area.
