Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
The site includes a 45-km stretch of coastal cliffs and several small islets. The vegetation is mainly grassland with areas of deciduous woodland. The main human activities are fishing and forestry.
This is an important area for breeding, wintering and passage seabirds.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The most important threats are industrial and tourism-related development. The Ribadesella estuary is a Game Refuge (200 ha).
