Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
Situated in the valley of the embanked Rhine, the IBA comprises
Quercus-
Ulmus and
Quercus-
Carpinus riverine forest, dry grassland, meadows, large gravel-pits, reedbeds (
Phragmites), springs, arable land and orchards.
This is an important stop-over site for a range of passage waterbirds. Breeding species include
Anas strepera,
Alcedo atthis and
Dendrocopos medius.
National Partial
International LowIBA overlaps Nature Reserve. IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
