Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
The site comprises part of the former flood-plain of the now embanked River Rhine. Habitat-types include
Quercus-
Ulmus,
Quercus-
Carpinus and
Populus forest, springs and large gravel-pits.
A nationally important site for breeding
Alcedo atthis and for passage and wintering wildfowl.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The area is a proposed Ramsar Site.
National Partial
International LowIBA overlaps with Landscape Protected Area and Nature Reserve. IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
