Site location and context
A wetland with fragments of riverine forest along the River Rhine. Also small islands, wet grassland and water-fringe vegetation.



Key biodiversity
An important site for wintering waterbirds.



Protected areas
National High International Partial196 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Mariannenaue, 196 ha). 475 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Rheinauen Bingen Erbach, 475 ha). 29 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Rüdesheimer Aue, 29 ha). IBA overlaps with Ramsar Site (475 ha). IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area (Mariannenaue and Rüdesheimer Aue, 225 ha).
