Site description (2000 baseline)
A large area of marsh and polders, intensively used for agriculture. Water-levels are regulated.
Key biodiversity
This is an important passage and wintering area for geese and waders. The site holds more than 20,000 waterbirds on passage and in winter, on a regular basis. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Branta ruficollis (wintering).
