Site description (2009 baseline)
Located in the mountains around the upper Lhasa River, near the middle reaches of the Yarlong Zangbo river. The habitats in the IBA include scrub of Spiraea spp., Salix spp. and Rhododendron parvifolium on shaded slopes at 4,100-4,900 m, Sabina tibetica forest on sunny slopes, meadows at 4,900-5,200 m and high-mountain alpine vegetation above 5,200 m, with bare rocks above and no glacial development.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected species include Ursus arctos and Moschus sifanicus.
