Site description (2003 baseline)
Swamp area in Rawa Tapus stretched to coast of Southern part of NAD.
Key biodiversity
The important species in this area is White-winged Duck Cairina scutulata. This bird was not found in 1991 (Giesen & van Balen 1992).Follow-up survey on July-August 1999 in 12 locations in this area did not get a visual contact. Secondary information from local people says that three mounths before the survey the White-winged Duck was seen and a pair were flying for feeding (Wibowo 1999).
Non-bird biodiversity: Other biodiversity include Macaca fascicularis, Macaca nemestrina, Presbytis cristata, Presbytis melalophos, Amyda catilagenia and Pyton reticulatus (Giesen and van Balen 1992, Wibowo et al. 1999)
