Qindeli Sturgeon Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located within the boundary of Qindeli Farm, Tongjiang City. The reserve extends 77 km from east to west, and the habitats include sandy beaches, marshes and forests.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Twenty-seven species of mammals have been recorded in the area, including Cervus nippon, Alces alces, Martes zibellina, Ursus arctos, Selenarctos thibetanus, Cervus elaphus, Lutra lutra and Lepus timidus. Nationally protected plants include Fructus schisandrae, Phellodendron chinense and Fraxinus mandshurica.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1998, to protect the local sturgeon Acipenser spp. population.
