Site description (2009 baseline):

Qilihai wetland is located in Ninghe County. It used to be on the coast, but it has gradually been turned into an inland wetland by industrialization and urbanization. Qilihai Nature Reserve mainly comprises a 2,000 ha reservoir, reedbeds and scattered fishponds.

Non-bird biodiversity: No information.

The IBA was established as Tianjin Paleocoastal and Wetland National Nature Reserve (99,000 ha) in 1984.
