Site location and context
Located in the north of Finland, mostly within the tundra zone.
One of the most important breeding areas in Finland for many arctic waders, such as Ruff and Broad-billed Sandpiper. Also important for arctic passerines, such as Lapland Bunting and Bluethroat.
An area characterized by low bushy vegetation, peatlands and alpine / tundra habitat. A popular area for visiting trekkers, fishers and hunters. Also extensively used for reindeer herding.
