Site description (2024 baseline):
Site location and context
A site consisting of shallow bays of inland lakes and fields in south-eastern Finland.
A key stopover site for may arctic geese during migration. The shallow wetlands also attract a great number of ducks during migration, particularly important for Common Pochard.
The area consists of shallow bays of inland lakes, and agricultural areas where many waterbirds feed during migration.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Any change in agricultural practices may affect the quality of the key stopover fields. The general deterioration of wetlands in Finland (due to e.g. eutrophication caused by forestry and agriculture) is likely to alter the wetlands in the future.
