Site description (2003 baseline)
Ridges up to 300 m, steep shore and flat only on the northwestern part. The flat area alreday cleared since 1970 for garden to grow bananas, pineaples, coconuts and batatas by fisherman from Kepulauan Banda and Tayando whose come periodically. They catch fishes from Manuk island and use this island to dry the fishes to make salty fish which then they sell it in Ambon Naira (a town in Banda islands).

Key biodiversity
This island probably has the biggest seabides breeding site colonies in Banda Sea (MacKinnon & Artha 1981). This area supports Bridled Tern Sterna anaethetus, Brown Booby Sula leucogaster, White-tailed Tropicbird Phaeton lepturus, Red-tailed Tropicbird Phaeton rubricauda, Brown Noddy Anous stolidus, Great Frigatebird Fregata minor, Lesser Frigatebird Fregata ariel, Red-footed Booby Sula sula, Masked Booby Sula dactylatra (de Korte 1991). The restricted-range bird Pink-headed Imperial Pigeon Ducula rosacea also lives in this area (White & Bruce 1986, de Korte 1991).
