Site location and context
The latest satellite image (not very good quality), indicates a block of good forest present in this area.
Enggano Island has two endemic bird species, Enggano Scops-owl
Otus enganensis and Enggano White-eye
Zosterops salvadori, both reported still exist in this area. Other important species are Great-billed Heron
Ardea sumatrana and Nicobar Pigeon
Caloenas nicobarida.
Mixed-lowland evergreen forest and plantation/agriculture.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Deforestation is the threat to this site.
Declared as Gunung Nanu'Ua Hunting park (10000 ha) based on SK No 741/Kpts/Um/II/1978 and SK No 383/Kpts-II/1985 on 21 December 1985 (Anon 1995).
