Prelittoral mountain ranges of Granada


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A mountain range along the Mediterranean coast of the provinces of Granada and Malaga. The vegetation comprises sclerophyllous scrub, dry grassland, Pinus plantations and patches of Quercus woodland. The main human activities are hunting and livestock-grazing.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for breeding raptors, particularly Hieraaetus fasciatus. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aquila adalberti (resident).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from disturbance from visitors, particularly of Hieraaetus fasciatus.



Protected areas
National Low International None395 ha of IBA covered by Natural Landscape (Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo, 395 ha).
