Pozam - Maytab coast


Site description (1994 baseline):

Site location and context
Long sandy beaches, tidal creeks and mudflats, between Pozam and Maytab in southern Iranian Baluchistan, 150 km west of Chahbahar. Land ownership is public.

Key biodiversity
See box for key species. An important wintering area for Pelecanus crispus, shorebirds and gulls, including Larus ichthyaetus and Larus cachinnans/L. argentatus. Other common winter visitors are Phoenicopterus ruber and Pandion haliaetus. Egretta gularis is a common resident and may breed in the area.

Non-bird biodiversity: None known to BirdLife International.

There is no legal protection and no information on threats.
