Site location and context
The IBA includes (Ponta do Sol, Ponta Rincon and Fatima cliffs). It is located northwest of Boa Vista Island, from Ervatão beach, north of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, to the cliff area of Poderoso. It includes the cliffs of Ervatão beach and part of the upper platform of Chã de Ervatão, the sector Pico Vigia and Curral Preto, the wide coastal platform (low island) at the beginning of the mountain massif and the cliffs and fossil dunes present from Farol de Ponta do Sol to close to the Poderoso stream.
The main threat is in relation to the conservation of nesting seabirds: red-billed tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus), the main predators being humans (the proximit
The are is important for breeding of Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), Iago sparrow (Passer iagoensis), Cape Verde kestrel (Falco tinnunculus neglectus) and Red-billed tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus).
