IBA Conservation

Ideally the conservation status of the IBA will have been checked regularly since the site was first identified in 2000. The most recent assessment (2010) is shown below.

IBA conservation assessment
Year of assessment State Pressure Response
2010 very poor low low
Whole site assessed? State assessed by Accuracy of information
yes population medium

State (condition of the trigger species' populations)
Species Actual vs Reference (units) % remaining Result
Whimbrel Numenius phaeopus 150 / 150 (pairs) 100 good
Ruff Calidris pugnax 100 / 400 (pairs) 25 not assessed
Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus 1 / 300 (pairs) 1 very poor
Spotted Redshank Tringa erythropus 0 / 120 (pairs) 0 very poor
Wood Sandpiper Tringa glareola 4,000 / 4,000 (pairs) 100 good
Picoides tridactylus 570 / 250 (pairs) 100 good
Siberian Jay Perisoreus infaustus 2,000 / 2,000 (pairs) 100 good
Common Redstart Phoenicurus phoenicurus 5,500 / 5,500 (pairs) 100 good
Meadow Pipit Anthus pratensis 5,000 / 10,000 (pairs) 50 poor

Pressure (threats to the trigger species and/or their habitats)
Threat Timing Scope Severity Result
Energy production and mining likely in short term (<4 years) few individuals/small area (<10%) no or slight decline (<1% over 3 generations) low

Response (conservation actions taken for the trigger species and/or their habitats)
Designation Planning Action Result
Whole area (>90%) covered by appropriate conservation designation No management plan exists, but the management planning process has begun Some limited conservation initiatives are in place low
