Site description (2009 baseline):
Site location and context
Located in the junction of Pingshan, Mabian and Muchuan counties. The IBA includes natural broadleaf evergreen forest at 1,000-1,790 m which has regenerated following selective logging. Arborophila rufipectus is usually found in woodland at 1,300-1,790 m, together with Lophura nycthemera, Tragopan temminckii and Chrysolophus amherstiae.
Non-bird biodiversity: No information.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
The IBA includes the provincial-level Pingshan Laojunshan Nature Reserve (3,500 ha), which was established in 2000.
