Site description (2004 baseline)
A narrow belt of forested dunes along the Riga gulf, mostly covered by dry Scot's Pine forests. The site also includes sandy beaches on the seashore. Reedbeds and overgrowing bushy meadows mix with open dunes and sand plain at the mouth of the Gauja river. New IBA, listed for the first time under the IBA C criteria. High protection level: there is a 93.9% overlap with the Piejura nature park, a candidate SPA.
