Located around 180 km East of Rengat.
Key biodiversity
Birds species between October-November 1984 (Silvius 1988) i.e:- 700 Milky Stork Mycterea cinerea- 70 Lesser Adjutant Leptoptilus javanicus- 80 Black-headed Ibis Threskiornis melanocephalus- c. 21000 waders include 4100 Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa, 2200 Common Redshank Tringia totanus, 2200 Mongolia Plover Charadrius mongolus (more than 11000 wader unidentified, and Asian Dowitcher Limnodromus semipalmatus uncertain record).A survey in Bakung Island on 22-26 October 1990 found: 685 Milky Stork Mycterea cinerea, 28 Lesser Adjutant Leptoptilus javanicus, 60 Black-headed Ibis Threskiornis melanocephalus, and other unidentified waterbirds (Giesen 1991).Although the few numbers of waders recorded in Jambi and South Sumatra, but the mudflat considered as part of wader post migration and also feeding site of waterbirds. Need to be noted that no record on breeding site of Black-headed Ibis Threskiornis melanocephalus in Sumatra.
Non-bird biodiversity: Crocodylus porosus and Tomistoma schlegeli (Giesen 1991, Wibowo & Suyatno 1998).
