Site description (2002 baseline):
Site location and context
A small, densely vegetated freshwater marsh located in the lower Mondego valley, west of the town of Coimbra in central Portugal. An important part of a network of small wetlands in the Mondego valley, which includes two other IBAs: Paul de Arzila (010) and Paul de Madriz (011).
The site supports a wide variety of breeding waterbirds, and is nationally important for wintering duck, as well as holding large numbers of migrating passerines during the autumn migration.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
there is not a managament plan for nature conservation in the special protection area or Ramsar site
