Pangquangou Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the central Lüliang Shan mountains. The main ridge in the IBA extends 15 km from north to south, and is 14.5 km wide. The main habitat is temperate deciduous broadleaf forest. The nature reserve was mainly established for the protection of Crossoptilon mantchuricum.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Ovibos moschatus and Martes flavigula chrysospila.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1980, and upgraded to a national nature reserve (10,466 ha) in 1985.
