Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A freshwater lake with islets surrounded by grazing-meadows, reedbeds and arable land.
The site was designated as a Special Protection Area in 1983 when it was internationally important for wintering
Cygnus cygnus. Latterly data are only available from 1988 when the species was recorded in significantly lower numbers.
Botaurus stellaris,
Philomachus pugnax and
Sterna hirundo, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, breed in low numbers at the site.

International High750 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Ovesø, 750 ha).
