Site description (2000 baseline)
This site forms the southernmost tip of the island of öland and consists of deciduous woodland with Betula, Quercus, and Populus tremula, open grazing-land, scrub, sand/pebble beaches, sandbanks and small bays. There are also extensive shallows and seaweed-covered beaches. The dominant human activity is cattle-raising.
Key biodiversity
The IBA supports a rich breeding bird fauna, and attracts large numbers of migrating waterbirds, cranes, raptors and passerines.
