Site summary
Ostrovné lúky is an area of intensive agricultural land, with fragments of forest habitats, man-made tree avenues bordering the roads and canals, and field woods. There are also water habitats provided by canals and the smaller gravel pits. The main activity is intensive agriculture, with localised sheep, goat and cat­tle grazing. There is an intensive hunting and sport fishing in the area. The site is one of the most impor­tant nesting areas of the Red-footed Falcon in Slovakia. The main threat to the area is intensive agriculture. The site is proposed as an SPA.
